1. To bolster up their ties, India and Australia signed five pacts on social security, transfer of sentenced prisoners, combating narcotics trade, tourism, and Arts and Culture.

2. Delhi Metro is one of the six Indian projects to feature in the prestigious 'Infrastructure 100: World Markets Report' compiled by the reputed international accounting firm KPMG. In this year's Infrastructure 100, a global panel of independent industry experts has identified 100 of the "world's most inspirational and innovative infrastructure projects”.

5. In a bid to encourage the habit of small savings among
citizens, Union government has re-launched the once successful Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP). Available to the Investors in the Denomination of Rs. 1000, 5000, 10,000 and 50,000, with no Upper Ceiling on Investment; Investment made in the KVP will Double in 100 Months and it can be redeemed after the fixed deadline of 30 months.

India's Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu held his own to defeat Hong Kong's Yip Tsz Fung in an exciting three- game affair to win gold in the men's squash event at the Asian Beach Games, which is currently taking place at Phuket in Thailand. Apart from Sandhu, India got two more bronze medals in Kush Kumar (men's singles) and Aparajitha Balamurukan (women's singles).
